What are Insurance Billing Codes?
Insurance billing codes (like CPT code 90833) help you track and document the specific services provided during patient encounters. When you add billing codes to your encounters in Nextvisit AI, you'll get two key benefits:
Enhanced documentation quality: The AI uses billing code information to create more accurate and relevant progress notes
Professional PDF exports: Your billing codes appear directly on exported notes, especially when combined with your practice information
How to Access Billing Code Settings
Click your profile icon in the bottom left of the sidebar
Select Settings (gear icon)
Click Insurance Billing
Setting Up Your Billing Codes
From the Insurance Billing settings page, you can create and manage your billing codes library. When adding a new billing code, you'll need to provide:
Code (required): The billing code number (e.g., 90833)
Modifier (optional): Any applicable modifiers
Price: The fee associated with this code
Duration: Expected session length (e.g., "15 Minutes")
Description (required): A clear description of the service
Once saved, these codes become available for use across all your patient encounters.
Adding Billing Codes to Encounters
You can add billing codes to any encounter in two ways:
During an active session:
While recording with a patient, select the appropriate billing code to help guide the documentation process in real-time.
After the encounter:
When reviewing a completed encounter, add the relevant billing code to enhance the final documentation.
Getting the Most from Billing Codes
For the best results when exporting PDFs:
Complete your practice information in workspace settings
Add billing codes to all relevant encounters
Your exported notes will display professional billing information that's ready for insurance submission
This streamlined approach helps ensure your documentation meets both clinical and billing requirements without extra administrative work.
