Managing Patient Medications

Keep track of your patient's current medications with automated accuracy and easy manual updates

Updated over a month ago

Nextvisit AI automatically captures and maintains an up-to-date medication list for each patient with high clinical accuracy. The system updates this information between sessions, ensuring you always have the most current medication data at your fingertips.

What You Can Do

Once you've completed at least one session with a patient, you can:

  • Add new medications to the patient's list

  • Edit existing medications with updated dosages, frequencies, or status changes

  • Delete medications that are no longer relevant

  • Print the complete medications list for patient records or referrals

Where to Find Patient Medications

You can access patient medications in two convenient locations:

  1. During an Encounter/Progress Note Look for the "Medications" section in the right sidebar of any encounter or progress note where medications were discussed during the session.

  2. In the Patient Chart Navigate to the patient's chart and click on the "Medications" tab for a comprehensive view of all medications.

Editing Medication Details

When you click on any medication in the list, you'll see a detailed view that includes:

  • Medication name and generic equivalent

  • Dosage (e.g., 10mg)

  • Formation (tablet, capsule, liquid, etc.)

  • Frequency (once daily, twice daily, as needed)

  • Start date and stop date (if applicable)

  • Status options including Current, Discontinued, Titration, Tapering, or Unknown

  • Prescriber information

  • Comments section for additional notes like "Take for sleep before bedtime"

  • Drug interactions and warnings when applicable

Medication Status Options

The system provides several status options to accurately reflect each medication's current state:

  • Current: Patient is actively taking the medication

  • Discontinued: Medication has been stopped

  • Titration: Dosage is being gradually increased

  • Tapering: Dosage is being gradually decreased

  • Unknown: Status needs clarification

AI Confidence Indicators

Nextvisit AI displays confidence levels for medication predictions, helping you verify the accuracy of automatically captured information. Look for confidence percentages and controlled substance indicators where applicable.
