How Long Is Recorded Audio Stored?

Understanding audio storage duration and security for your clinical documentation

Updated over a month ago

When you record patient encounters using Nextvisit AI, the storage duration depends on which recording method you choose:

Session Recorder and Mobile App

Audio recordings are automatically stored for 30 days from the date of recording. This gives you plenty of time to review your sessions and generate documentation.

Live Transcription Mode:

Audio recordings are not saved when using this feature, as transcription happens in real-time without storage.

Download Audio Files

If you need to keep audio recordings beyond the 30-day period, you can download them directly:

  1. Navigate to your desired session

  2. Click on the Audio tab

  3. Select the download option for your audio file

Once you download an audio file, you become responsible for its security and compliance with local laws, regulations, and your organization's data protection policies. Nextvisit AI cannot track or manage downloaded files.

Security Features

All audio recordings stored in Nextvisit AI are protected with AES-256-CBC encryption, ensuring your patient data remains secure throughout the storage period.

Best Practices

  • Review and download important recordings before the 30-day expiration only if necessary

  • Store downloaded files according to local laws, regulations, and your organization's data retention policies
